School pupils from the north-east will join around 100 others from across Scotland for a major industry competition.
The Shell Girls in Energy Conference is taking place at Woodbank House in Aberdeen next month.
Students from Peterhead Academy, Mintlaw Academy and Fraserburgh Academy are all involved in the event on December 1.
It aims to find new ideas and solutions for the energy industry from the next generation.
David Rodger, from Shell, said: “This is very much a challenge day for the students from across the north-east of Scotland.
“They are going to be asked to come up with some very innovative solutions to either create energy or to create ideas that have a great degree of energy efficiency in our cities and towns.
“They will present in a Dragons Den-type of environment in front of some local leaders from the north-east business community.”
Mr Rodger said it also aims to inspire young women and consider a future in the energy sector.
He said: “There are some great careers in the energy and there is certainly a job to done in attracting females into this area.
“The Girls in Energy scheme has over the last five to six years has been making a difference in getting that spark of interest in and it gives women the confidence and knowledge to think they could work in the energy industry.”
