Cutting-edge energy generation technology and some of the people who help Scotland make a global renewable-energy impact were celebrated at the 2017 Scottish Green Energy Awards in Edinburgh last night.
The event produced winners across 11 categories who received trophies for their work in the country’s renewable-energy industry.
They included MeyGen, the world’s largest tidal stream array, in the Pentland Firth, which won the prize for outstanding project.
The Ben Mor community hydro scheme near Ullapool came away with the best community engagement award.
West Harris Trust was honoured for best community project and Gareth Davies, managing director of Orkney-based consultancy Aquatera and a passionate advocate of marine energy, scooped the outstanding contribution honour.
Last night’s winners were drawn from a shortlist of 40, compiled by a panel of 10 judges, from nearly 100 entries.
Scottish Conservative Leader Ruth Davidson addressed the 1,200-strong audience at the event, which was hosted by TV’s Hardeep Singh Kohli at Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
