North Sea oil and gas operator Serica Energy has confirmed that production from the Erskine field has restarted after a damaged pipeline halted operations in December.
A leak caused by a crack in the Forties Pipeline System near Aberdeen shut down the flow on December 11 and caused weeks of havoc over the festive period.
Residents were evacuated from their homes and an area near Netherley was cordoned off whilst repairs were carried out.
A day after the Forties shutdown was announced, Serica revised its output forecast for 2017 to 2,000 barrels of oil per day, down from a range of 2,200-2,400 barrels previously.
The London-listed firm owns an 18% stake in the Erskine field.
A spokeswoman for Serica said today: “We are pleased to report that the Erskine Field has resumed production following the successful repair of the Forties Pipeline System.”
The pipeline system is 235-miles long and links more than 80 North Sea fields to the Ineos processing plant in Grangemouth.
