KCA Deutag has confirmed that 40 of its North Sea workers are at risk of being made redundant.
It’s after Nexen announced plans to warm-stack its Scott platform, where KCA Deutag is the drilling contractor.
KCA says it is now consulting with crews and “will make every effort to redeploy them” if there is a need to reduce staff on board.
A spokeswoman for KCA Deutag said: “KCA Deutag is the drilling contractor on the Scott platform, which is operated by Nexen.
“Nexen have notified us that they plan to warm stack the rig. As a result we are consulting with our crews and will make every effort to redeploy them, should there be a reduction in the number of crew required.
“There are currently 40 positions at risk of redundancy, but we have some redeployment opportunities available.”
The Scott platform lies around 116 miles north east of Aberdeen.
A Nexen spokeswoman said: “Nexen continues to work with our co-venturers to progress activity in line with our strategy of maximising economic recovery of oil and gas resources in the North Sea.”
