His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain gave liquefied natural gas (LNG) the ‘presidency of honour’ ahead of this year’s Gastech 2018.
In preparation for the global gas exhibition and conference in Barcelona, the King gave his royal seal of approval to LNG alongside an official endorsement from the Secretary of State for Energy, Daniel Navia.
The event will bring in over 700 global companies and 30,000 attendees from across the energy sector.
The conference has also buoyed by the recent revelation from Wood Mackenzie that the LNG market has the potential to bring in £9billion in new investment.
Gastech organisers, dmg’s Nick Ornstien, vice president energy UK, said: “Recent stats anticipate an increase in global gas demand by as much as 41 per cent over the next two decades. As governments become more environmentally conscious, coal demand is going down, especially in the Asian markets, and LNG is expected to overtake oil as the main energy source by 2040.
“As we celebrate the 45th year of Gastech we are extremely honoured to have received these accolades from His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain and the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda of Spain.”
Gastech has been expanded this year to include upstream exploration and field development, through processing, pipelines and shipping to downstream petrochemicals and power generation.
