Forum Subsea Technology has announced that it will be supplying four of its Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to academia and the aquaculture industry through deals in Russia and Norway.
The first sale is to an academic research facility in Russia and awarded through Forum’s local distributor in the region, DiveTechnoService LLC .
The St Petersburg-based academic institution has selected one of the company’s Mojave ROVs to support its oceanography research work.
The remaining contracts are repeat business with two Norwegian aquaculture companies.
Kevin Taylor VP of Subsea, said: “During the prolonged downturn in the subsea market, we have adapted our business plan and explored new markets for our ROVs. We are now seeing this come to fruition with four ROVs being purchased in the aquaculture market for inspection and repair work and also for academic research in Russia.
“These purchases are testament to the reputation Forum has for manufacturing first-class ROVs and associated products suited to the subsea landscapes found in the oil and gas, renewables, and aquaculture sectors, and for supporting geographic subsea research programmes across the globe.”
Forum Subsea Technologies and BluHaptics, Inc. have also recently announced a joint agreement enabling technologies from both companies to be combined to provide solutions for ROV and subsea engineering applications.
The VMAX Software is a 3D ROV simulation product, which is used for training and evaluation of ROV pilots as well as by subsea engineering teams for modelling and verification of procedures involving intervention tasks related to installing and maintaining subsea equipment.
The software will be demonstrated at Oceanology International 2018, 13-15 March at ExCel in London.
