Africa-focussed explorer Savannah Petroleum has spudded the first of its three-well drilling campaign.
The Bushiya-1 is located in the Agadem Basin in south east Niger.
UK-headquartered Savannah says the region has recoverable resources of 36million barrels of oil.
The company has contracted Great Well Drilling Company Niger (GWDC) for the campaign which is expected to take up to 40 days.
The well will be drilled to a total delpth of 2,114 metres.
