A mooring operations firm based in Dundee which is looking to diversify into floating wind said it can “drive down costs” for the sector.
Flintstone Technology has developed new mooring systems for the offshore floating turbine market – a line, anchor and connector system for keeping the turbine floating and in place.
With 25GW expected to be built into the offshore wind sector over the next decade, Flintstone said it’s subsea tensioned mooring system can “have a real impact on the sector”.
Flintstone managing director Andrew Clayson said: “There are many similarities between the offshore floating wind and oil and gas supply chains. Our technology, although originally designed for offshore floating production, is suitable for any permanently, moored floating system.
“We believe we can make a real impact in the OFW sector to increase efficiency and drive down costs.”
