Prosafe has been offered a month extension for the Safe Boreas charter contract at the Mariner project by operator Equinor.
Semi-submersible firm Prosafe said today that the extension deal on the table, worth £4.6 million, is the first of six one-month options to extend the charter of the Safe Boreas to Mariner.
In late 2017, a 13 month Safe Boreas contract agreement was drawn up between Prosafe and Equinor for the Mariner project which is currently in the hook-up and commissioning phase.
The new extension deal will see the contract extended until October 2018.
First oil from the field, located east of Shetland, is expected later this year.
The multi-billion pound project is expected to yield 250million barrels of oil over its 30-year production life, and create 700 long-term jobs.
