Marine-power firm Trident Energy is to be given a £220,000 grant by Scottish Enterprise (SE) to help it to develop technology to harness wave and tidal energy.
London-based Trident is to use the regional selective assistance (RSA) cash to expand into Glasgow this year and develop an in-house technical team to develop its PowerPod technology towards commercial production.
PowerPod is a patented tubular linear generator designed to convert sea wave motion directly into electricity, using the minimum of moving parts. It is designed to work across a range of marine-energy device types to improve energy conversion levels and reduce the cost of offshore renewable power generation.
