INTERNATIONAL welding group Serimax has appointed a new director as it prepares to extend its North Sea business.
Kenny Spink has been appointed regional director responsible for activities in the UK and Scandinavia.
He will be based at the company’s Scottish base, at Evanton near Inverness, and joins Serimax after six years with RBG where he was commercial manager.
Clients with whom Serimax has worked include major oil and gas operators and service companies. The firm also manages three of Technip’s spoolbases – in the US, Angola and the Cromarty Firth – where pipe is spooled on to pipelaying vessels.
Mr Spink will be responsible for more than 130 staff at Evanton. Serimax chief executive David Williams said: “Our spoolbase and fabrication facility at Evanton plays a major role in the services we can offer to clients operating in the UK and Norwegian North Sea and Kenny’s appointment strengthens that offering and our international management team.
“We are keen to develop the fabrication expertise we have in place and have identified diversification opportunities in the UK continental shelf. Kenny will play an important part in growing our business in the northern European market and supporting our training school which is a centre of excellence for the whole Serimax group.”
Serimax has its corporate HQ in Paris and regional offices at Evanton, Houston, Paris and Singapore employing more than 800 people.
