Aberdeen-based marine asset management specialist Attollo Offshore played a key role in one of the world’s most innovative renewable energy projects.
Attollo mobilised a jackup accommodation unit for Orsted’s Borkum Riffgrund 2 in the German North Sea last month.
The work came on the heels of its involvement in the southern North Sea Race Bank wind farm project.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 is expected to produce enough electricity to power nearly 500,000 homes a year.
Attollo is providing accommodation and construction support for the hookup and commissioning of the 450MW high voltage substation.
Attollo managing director Ben Moore said: ““Attollo is delighted to be a part of this ground-breaking project, after our success at Race Bank.
“In comparison to the 4MW turbines used within Borkum Riffgrund 1, the Borkum Riffgrund 2’s 8MW turbines are the ultimate demonstration of the innovation and growing ambitions of Orsted and the global offshore wind industry for a green energy future.”
