An oil and gas equipment specialist has made a £250,000 expansion to its fabrication division in Aberdeenshire.
Motive Offshore has made the improvements to its main site at Boyndie, near Macduff.
The firm said it will allow the company, which specialises in manufacture and rental of high quality marine equipment, to offer an enhanced service to clients.
A large amount of Motive’s fabrication work is for clients at UK ports including Peterhead, Aberdeen and Montrose.
It has appointed Colin Forsyth to manage the division, who brings more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas and marine industries.
85 people are employed in the group, and Motive said it has created more than 20 local jobs in the last year.
Mr Forsyth said: “The team at Motive has fantastic experience already in building deck machinery to a high standard of workmanship, personally having worked alongside some of the Motive workforce previously, I know we have the skills set to enhance our service provision profile to our clients.
“Offering turnkey fabrication packages and sea-fastening services will simplify logistical movements of hire equipment and provide potential cost savings to our clients.
“Motive has a very skilled workforce which adapts easily to challenges.
“Concentrating fabrication services at the Boyndie base will open up new opportunities for Motive, and my experience in dealing with fast reaction vessel work scopes and close working relationships with clients will be beneficial as we grow the fabrication side of the business.”
Motive toasted a record year in 2017, with turnover of £10million, and says it is on track for 20% growth in 2018.
