US oil giant ConocoPhillips has announced who will lead the two new companies the firm is to split into by spinning off its refining and marketing operations.
Ryan Lance, currently senior vice president of exploration and production international, is to become the chairman and chief executive officer of the upstream company.
Greg Garland, currently senior vice president, exploration and production Americas, is to become the chairman and chief executive of the downstream company.
Jim Mulva, the current chairman and chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips, will retire following the completion of the separation, due to be completed in the second quarter of 2012.
