A partnership of Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), McDermott International and L&T Hydrocarbon have won the £1.3 billion subsea engineering contract for India’s largest deepwater project.
The state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has awarded the work for 34 wells at the DWN-98/2 project in the Krishna Godavari basin off the country’s east coast.
BHGE’s base in Montrose will be used to manufacture the subsea trees for the 34 producing wells, along with a facility in Singapore.
The ONGC said it is the largest contract award of its kind in the world in recent years.
The project is expected to produce 16million cubic metres of gas per day at its peak, along with 80,000 barrels of oil per day.

The project’s gas system is due for completion in 2020, followed by the oil system in 2021.
