A WELSH company that majors on windfarm construction is opening an office in Inverness, following a raft of new contracts in the renewables sector.
It is the second Scotland base for Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK as they expand their reach north of the border.
Inverness is the fourth regional office around the UK to be opened in 18 months by the family-owned firm, which is headquartered in Ruthin, North Wales.
The company believes the move will strengthen its position as one of the UK’s main infrastructure providers for windfarms.
It comes as the company is about to embark on a major project to develop a windfarm at Lochluichart in the Highlands.
The Inverness office will be run by Dennis Kearney, who has many years’ experience in the renewables industry in northern Scotland.
It follows the opening of a base in Linlithgow, near Falkirk, last year.
Managing director Huw Jones, said: “There are lots of opportunities in Scotland and we are now taking full advantage of these by having a physical presence in different regions north of the border.”
Founded in the 1950s and employing 270 people, the family-owned company has grown rapidly in the past decade. It is currently working on contracts in various sectors including landfill, highways, flood and marine defence and renewables around the country.
