INSPECTION and non-destructive testing specialist Applus RTD UK has appointed Dave Andrews as its new managing director.
Mr Andrews, 60, arrives with experience in business management across the energy sector and will focus on spearheading growth and improved efficiency across Applus’s operations in the UK North Sea and beyond.
He will lead operations in Aberdeen, its head office at Falkirk, Teesside and Great Yarmouth.
Mr Andrews is a former manufacturing industry business manager who spent 17 years in the oil and gas sector with engineering specialist Hydratight and has also worked in automotive manufacturing. Before joining Applus he was managing director at Rayburn Engineering in England.
In line with its growth plans, Applus RTD UK aims to increase its workforce, although the company said it was too early to confirm numbers. It already has about 350 staff in the UK.
They work across the offshore oil and gas and marine sectors, as well as land-based projects, to deliver inspection and integrity-management services, specialist training in areas such as rigging and lifting, rooftop safety and manual handling awareness as well as emergency first-aid.
Applus RTD UK is said to be the first inspection specialist to achieve ISO 9001 quality management, ISO 18001 occupational health and safety, and ISO 14001 certification in recognition of its environmental management standards.
