A proposed objection to a massive Moray Firth wind project by Highland Council did not take place as planned.
Highland Council said in a report last week that it would table a recommendation that an objection be raised against the project over concerns it could “dominate the horizon”.
Plans for the 85-turbine Moray West Offshore Windfarm were to be considered today, where planning officers were expected to describe the site as “damaging” to north-east sea views.
But, according to the North Planning Applications Committee report published last week, none of the 12 Highland community councils who have been consulted object to the plans.
The venture is due to begin construction in 2021 and could provide power for more than 900,000 homes.
Project Director for Moray West, Carlos Cerezo said: “We are pleased that Highland Council has chosen to support the windfarm in response to this consultation, and we would like to thank members for their consideration of the application.
“Securing the support of all three local authorities around the Moray Firth is a significant milestone towards us competing in the confirmed CfD auction next year.”
Highland Council North Planning committee has been contacted for comment.
