Canadian oil and gas explorer Antrim said today it is to drill three wells in the North Sea by the end of the year starting with the Erne prospect.
It said drilling on Erne, in the central North Sea between the Fyne and Northwest Guillemot fields, had started and was estimated to take up to 23 days to drill and may be followed by a sidetrack.
Antrim, is the operator at Erne, with 50% interest in the field. Premier Oil holds the rest.
AGR Well Management is project managing the drilling using the WilPheonix semisubmersible drilling rig, which will move on to the 100% Antrim-owned Carra exploration prospect after completing at Erne.
Antrim said it then planned, with partners, to drill an appraisal well on the Fyne Field before the end of the year.
