A SENIOR manager at oil major Shell will speak at an industry conference in Aberdeen next week.
Stuart Brown, who heads up Shell’s global well-intervention division, will address delegates at the European Well Intervention Conference on Tuesday.
The event has been organised by the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) and Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Mr Brown will speak about investment in the North Sea and give his views on what the future holds for the region.
“The days of easy oil and gas are over and innovative solutions are required to meet the world’s growing demand for energy,” he said yesterday.
He added: “There is a need to tackle the problems surrounding the introduction of new technology by overcoming the barriers that exist. The whole sector needs to come together to address the issues facing the industry to help ensure that the North Sea continues to flourish as a source of energy in the years ahead.”
The winner of the ICoTA European Chapter Innovation Award will also be announced during the two-day event at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Red Spider, Petroleum Technology Company, Oilenco, Schlumberger and BP Exploration and Production are all in the running for the accolade.
