An energy employment expert has been headhunted from a rival company by global law firm Pinsent Masons.
The firm announced Claire Scott has joined its Aberdeen employment law team from Scottish commercial law firm Burness Paull, taking up the position of legal director.
Pinsent Masons bosses described Ms Scott as “widely respected” in the north-east thanks to her experience of advising international clients in the oil and gas, shipping and aviation industries.
The firm added that Ms Scott has been drafted in due to “increased client demand” for advice on topics involving company restructuring, outsourcing and offshore contracting.
Pinsent Masons head of oil and gas, Bob Ruddiman, said: “Employment law feeds in to almost every aspect of the oil and gas sector which, as one of the most highly regulated industries in the world, faces many challenges.
“Our clients will value that we have added another first rate legal practitioner in Claire to our already strong international offering.”
Ms Scott is to work closely with Aberdeen partner Euan Smith who has most recently been advising clients on Brexit-related employment issues.
He added: “I am delighted to have Claire on board and her track record in advising on sensitive and complicated areas of employment law will be welcomed by our expanding client base in Scotland and across the UK.”
Pinsent Masons employs nearly 3000 people worldwide, including around 1500 lawyers and 400 partners.
