Aberdeen-headquartered energy services firm Wood has been chosen to advise on a new windfarm being constructed near Martha’s Vineyard.
The 800MW development is the first utility-scale windfarm to be constructed off the island in Massachusetts.
Once built, it will be able to meet energy needs of more than 400,000 homes and businesses.
Wood will act as technical advisor for developers Vineyard Wind in a four-year contract, assisting in design, construction and operation strategies, as well as the funding process.
Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood’s Specialist Technical Solutions business, said: ““We are extremely proud to be awarded the role of technical advisor on Vineyard Wind.
“The US offshore wind industry is poised for tremendous growth as we transition towards a more diverse energy supply mix.
“A milestone project of this kind will help support this rapidly growing industry and we look forward to working closely with Vineyard Wind as the project progresses.”
