GLOBAL energy service company Wood Group, of Aberdeen, has announced a potentially lucrative Middle East joint venture.
Wood Group-CCC has been founded with Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), the largest engineering and construction company in the Middle East.
The venture will provide operations and maintenance services for the oil and gas and petrochemical industries in Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Bahrain and Yemen.
Les Thomas, a director at Wood Group Production Facilities, said yesterday Wood Group-CCC would bring a new, highly complementary service to companies operating in the Middle East.
Over the next decade, it is estimated that there will be £300billion of investment in oil and gas and petrochemical plants in the region, with a need for ongoing operations and maintenance support.
Samer Khoury, executive vice-president of operations with CCC, added: “The joint venture represents a major step towards providing a broader capability to our Middle East clients.”
Wood Group’s Middle East-African region has annual turnover of about £250million – 10% of its total – and employs about 2,000 people.
