Italian firm Eni has announced the appointment of a new chief upsteam officer.
Alessandro Puliti will start his new role in September, moving up from chief development, operations and technology officer.
He replaces Antonio Vella, who will leave the company at the end of the year, after more than 30 years at Eni.
Mr Puliti will lead the development of the Upstream department at the Milan-headquartered firm.
A spokesman for Eni said: “Over the last five years, Antonio Vella has strengthened Eni’s Upstream activities, in spite of the challenging market situation.
“He has done so by ensuring a significant production growth, a constant focus on operational efficiency and a substantial cash generation by his department, at a time of a highly volatile oil price.
“Alessandro Puliti has a solid professional experience, built over the years, in Italy and abroad, handling diverse and highly complex situations.
“Eni is confident that he will lead the development of the Upstream department with effectiveness and passion, contributing to reaching the Company’s ambitious targets in the area.”
