Trade union officials will lobby delegates at a major conference in Aberdeen to deliver a “just” energy transition that protects jobs.
RMT said the transition to a low carbon economy should not come at the expense of thousands of workers currently employed across the oil and gas sector.
Union representatives will make their point at the Oil and Gas UK annual conference in Aberdeen today.
RMT claimed current strategies for offshore energy of the Scottish and UK governments are failing workers and society.
RMT regional organiser Jake Molloy said: “We need government intervention now in the exploitation of our natural resources and the clean-up operations of decommissioning to protect and create jobs and provide a return to the tax-payer and the state.”
