Aberdeenshire-based energy equipment maker Flowline Specialists has reshuffled its management team after its long-standing chief executive left the business.
Jim Smith spearheaded Flowline Specialists’ diversification and expansion during his 11 years at the helm.
His efforts helped the firm win a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2016.
But Mr Smith has decided to leave the Oldmeldrum-headquartered firm to “pursue new challenges”.
Flowline has promoted a new chief executive from inside the company, with Ross Whittingham taking the reins.
Mr Whittingham joined Flowline Specialists a decade ago and most recently held the role of engineering manager.
In another change, group operations manager Graeme Chalmers, who leads the firm’s Middle East division from Dubai, has become chief operating officer.
Founded in 2001, Flowline Specialists makes modular equipment used for the handling and deployment of cables and pipes across the energy industry.
The firm’s gear has been used in decommissioning projects, as well as oil and gas, subsea and renewables developments.
The business employs about 50 staff members and has an additional manufacturing facility near Fyvie, Aberdeenshire.
It also has bases in the United Arab Emirates and Netherlands.
It record pre-tax profits of £813,121 in 2017-18.
