US oil major ConocoPhillips has handed in its plans for decommissioning the MacCulloch field to the UK Government.
Conoco, which has agreed to sell its UK portfolio to Chrysaor, is seeking approval for its programme, covering the subsea facilities and mooring system.
It includes four manifolds, 13 subsea wells, nine anchor chains and wires, and 22 pipelines.
MacCulloch, in the central North Sea, started producing in 1997.
The field was developed using an FPSO, the North Sea Producer, owned by the North Sea Production Company (NSPC).
The North Sea Producer FPSO is not included in the programme.
It was removed from the field in August 2015 and taken to Teesside by the owners for reuse and recycling.
The vessel was later spotted languishing on a beach in Bangladesh, causing outcry among environmental groups.
Before being found beached, the vessel was docked by Middlesbrough FC’s stadium, where its departure was hindered by a string of delays.
