MARINE personnel-transfer specialist Reflex Marine, of Aberdeen, launched its latest system for the offshore sector yesterday.
The new Toro transfer capsule can carry up to four people, protecting them from side impact and bumpy landings, or a critically-ill or injured person in a stretcher plus up to two other passengers.
Launching the device, Reflex Marine managing director Philip Strong said: “We developed the Toro in response to extensive dialogue with our customers.
“The project made full use of our 10 years’ intensive focus in this area and the support of our industry partners. The initial response of clients had been most encouraging. We are confident that this will be seen as a ground-breaking product”.
“Safe marine personnel transfer is of the utmost importance to us. We believe the Toro will increase the overall adoption rate of higher- specification crew-transfer equipment globally and protect more workers from unnecessary injury”.
Reflex Marine has already taken orders from energy firms Chevron and BG Group, and the Toro will soon be on active service in the North Sea and offshore north Africa. The Bridge of Don-based firm said: “Exceptional levels of inquiries have also been received from operators around the globe, including Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the US.”
Yesterday’s launch and demonstration coincided with the firm’s 10th anniversary and will be followed by similar events in key overseas growth areas such as Singapore, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi and America.
