Oil exploration firm Aker BP has made a significant oil discovery in the Norwegian section of the North Sea near the UK border.
The new find is north-east of the Alvheim field in the Noaka region.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said recoverable oil is estimated to be between 82 to 200 barrels of oil equivalent.
The Alvheim field sits 124 miles northwest of Stavanger.
Drilled by the Deepsea Stavanger drilling rig, the licence was awarded in APA 2006.
