AN UPBEAT picture is expected when Oil & Gas UK’s 2011 Activity Survey covering exploration, investment and production plans is published at an Aberdeen breakfast briefing on February 24.
Compared with 2009, spending on new developments in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) is set to rise and the list of future potential developments has been significantly reinforced as a result of the drilling successes of 2009 through 2010.
Mike Tholen, Oil & Gas UK’s economics and commercial director will be in an optimistic mood.
Speaking well in advance of the February gathering, he said: “These are remarkable times in the UK Continental Shelf. This year, the UK Government received the highest number of new licence applications since the first round almost 50 years ago and a series of very sizeable oil and gas discoveries was announced.
“This buoyant mood was reflected in record attendance at last month’s PILOT Share Fair, the event which ‘oils the wheels of business by improving the flow of information about future project plans between operators and contractors.”
It is Energy’s experience that Oil & Gas UK’s breakfast briefings present an excellent opportunity to network with industry colleagues and to be informed of the latest developments on the UKCS.
