The operators of a far north wind farm which went live earlier this year are now ready to shell out the first tranche of cash from its community benefit fund.
Innogy Renewables UK has established the 13-turbine cluster at Achkeepster, near Mybster, adjoining the A9 on the Causewaymire.
Foundation Scotland, which manages the fund, has arranged a series of drop-in sessions to inform local people about what is available.
Applications are now open for the £133,250 a year pot which will contribute towards local community projects as well as bursaries to access training and education opportunities.
It is open to individuals and community groups within the community council areas of Latheron, Lybster and Clyth, Halkirk District and Watten in the south of the county.
Caithness-based Foundation Scotland development manager Eilidh Coll, said: “This scheme will hopefully give people a helping hand who are planning to do a course or undertake some training. It could help people improve their life chances and potentially help them gain new or different employment.”
The first session took place yesterday in Watten Hall.
Other sessions are being held in Scotscalder Hall on Tuesday, October 1, from 4-7pm, and Latheron Hall on Wednesday, October 2, from 3-6pm.
