THE president of Houston-based private-equity firm SCF Partners is in Aberdeen this week to mark its achievements since entering the local market in 2007.
SCF, which specialises in energy services and equipment investment, has been providing equity capital and strategic growth assistance to build industry-leading companies for 20 years.
North of the border it has backed recent acquisitions by north-east companies Reservoir Group and Triton Group, in addition to co-investing with Clyde Blowers in the recent acquisition of Union Pump from Textron.
Last year, SCF completed 10 add-on acquisitions as part of its strategy of growing these three Scottish firms, and is pursuing opportunities to develop others by using recently raised private-equity fund SCF Fund VII.
L.E. Simmons will tell the local oil and gas community today that SCF is keen to look at opportunities, not only in the North Sea, but across the eastern hemisphere, and this focus will be driven by its representatives in Aberdeen: Peter Stuart and Kevin Binnie.
Mr Simmons said about SCF’s growth in the eastern hemisphere: “It is fitting that, in the year of SCF’s 20th anniversary, we are here to acknowledge the achievements of our international team who, under the direction of Andy Waite from our Houston office, has managed to establish us as a significant player in this region.
“We look forward to being able to make further investments, and we are convinced that the current market will give us an excellent opportunity to establish further portfolio companies.”
