Subsea 7 has secured a $50million contract with Petrobras to provide remotely operated vehicle and underwater positioning services offshore Brazil through its I-Tech division.
Options could double this to $100million or more.
The award will see i-Tech providing two Centurion QX work-class ROVs and positioning/survey services with mothership for a five-year term, with an option to extend for a similar term.
Expectation is that mobilisation of the necessary equipment and personnel will start in the autumn.
i-Tech’s managing director, Bruce Masson, said of the arrangement: “I am delighted to announce a further award from Petrobras in Brazil which further consolidates our position as a primary player in this important growing market sector, both in Brazil and globally. The award allows us to provide additional services encompassing the provision of a number of high-precision ROV-mounted sensors, including inertial navigation and sound-velocity equipment, all of which are linked to a navigation software program to allow the integration of all positioning sensors onboard the vessel.
“These services demonstrate our extended capabilities, beyond that which we normally provide in support of our core business.”
i-Tech has more than 650 personnel and more than 80 ROVs deployed globally, plus it has access to a further 50 vehicles across Subsea 7.
The company says that it is the world’s second largest provider of ROV support services to the offshore industry.
It operates out of four regional centres: Europe and Africa, Brazil, Asia-Pacific and North America.
