ABERDEEN-BASED industrial-cleaning and waste-disposal company MS Industrial Services (MSIS) has completed a contract with oil and gas, marine and drilling support-service firm Offshore Marine Services (OMS).
Under the deal – worth about £500,000 – MSIS carried out specialised cleaning of the slop tanks onboard the Hess-owned Triton floating production vessel.
The project involved MSIS removing 350 tonnes of hydrocarbon-contaminated sand from tanks using its Premier Transfer System (PTS).
MSIS has recently expanded the range of specialised services it offers clients and for this project the company used its new sand-cleaning system for the first time.
The system removed hydrocarbon traces from the sand which, as a result, could then be discharged overboard. Graham Holloway, MSIS contracts manager, was delighted that the project had been delivered successfully.
He said: “Our growing expertise in floating production vessel cleaning is becoming a major focus for the business with a growing number of companies recognising our PTS is ideally suited for use on these vessels and that we have the experience and expertise to carry out this kind of work.
“Previously, companies sent dozens of men into tanks to manually scrub and clean them, however, with our PTS, only a few men are required to complete the operation far more effectively and efficiently.”
