OIL and gas engineering and construction company Aker Solutions has announced the appointment of Aberdeen-based Alan Brunnen as managing director of its UK subsea business.
Mr Brunnen will take up his new post on June 1.
He moves from a role as head of the firm’s global sales and marketing. Before that he headed up its subsea field-development unit in the Granite City and previously was chief operating officer for Stolt Offshore.
Mr Brunnen will succeed Remi Birkeland, who will continue in his role as senior vice-president for subsea controls.
As part of a global restructuring of Aker Solutions’ subsea business, the Aberdeen operation will be offering its UK-based customers the full range of subsea and sub-surface products and services available within the group.
“We will manage all UK customer relationships and projects out of Aberdeen,” said Mr Brunnen. “This will enable us to create an even more customer-focused organisation.”
Additionally, the Aberdeen operation has been given global centre-of-excellence status for engineering and manufacturing of subsea control systems.
Mr Brunnen said: “This means that the Aberdeen operation will be responsible for driving business-critical processes for subsea control systems globally, including supply, manufacturing and research and development strategies.”
