A NEW schools’ initiative will take place in Aberdeenshire over the next few weeks with the support of oil service companies Acergy and Nautronix.
The scheme, set up by Coaching Training Consultancy (CTC), aims to provide the best possible information and opportunities for young people considering entering the energy sector. The workshops are aimed at fourth and fifth-year pupils not planning to follow the graduate route into employment.
Acergy UK managing director Graham Meil said: “We are delighted to join forces with Nautronix and CTC on this initiative to give support to youngsters who are considering entering the oil and gas sector. We recently opened our doors in Westhill to more than 350 pupils for an energy day and we hope that this joint project will help to further inspire them in their . . . career choices.”
Ewan Brown, production manager at Nautronix, said: “We hope this scheme proves to be an excellent learning opportunity for the students taking part; giving them vital skills and the confidence for entering employment. As a company we are not only committed to the fundamentals of the scheme but plan to recruit a young apprentice to join our production team.”
CTC director Alastair Fraser said: “There is no doubt that there is a real need for these workshops in order to provide a bridge for pupils from school to industry.”
