Subsea riser engineering consultant MCS will reveal today that it plans to create about 30 jobs in Aberdeen this year.
The announcement will come at the Subsea 09 event, which opens at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre this morning and runs until tomorrow.
About 2,000 delegates are expected at this year’s exhibition and conference which features technology and the latest innovations and services from more than 100 exhibitors.
The Aberdeen office of MCS is embarking on a growth strategy to increase its employee base to meet a rapidly growing 2009 order book and anticipated growth across all services. MCS reported 30% growth in its Aberdeen operation last year, with staff numbers rising to 54.
Tim O’Sullivan, managing director of the Aberdeen operation of MCS, said: “This is an exciting time for MCS as we position ourselves for another year of sustained growth and expansion.
“As demand in the subsea market increases, MCS has established itself as a leading global player in the subsea engineering and software sector.
“The ongoing investment we are making in expanding the scope of our service provision underlines the confidence we have in our continued growth prospects.”
Further growth for the MCS Aberdeen operation will come from its partnership with sister company MSi, a flow-assurance consultancy.
MSi, which already has an office in London, will now have a base in Aberdeen within the MCS offices and work with MCS’s flow-assurance specialists.
An international subsea engineering company with offices in Rio, Galway, Aberdeen, Houston, Perth, Paris and Kuala Lumpur, MCS is a subsidiary of Aberdeen-based Wood Group. It employs more than 200 people.
Subsea technology and service company Triton Group will reveal at Subsea 09 that it is continuing the development of a global network of support facilities with the launch of a new sales and service centre in the UK.
The Westhill-based group completed its ninth acquisition recently with deals totalling more than £100million since its formation in 2007.
The newly refurbished site at Blackburn, on the outskirts of Aberdeen, will provide an operational base for sales and service personnel from group companies including Perry Slingsby Systems, UKPS, Sub-Atlantic and Subco supporting the Europe, Africa and Middle East regions.
