Subsea engineering firm DeepOcean Group said today it had appointed a new chief executive to serve from February 1.
The recruitment of Bart Heijermans follows a recent financial restructuring and the formation of a new board of directors at the firm, which has offices in Aberdeen.
Mr Heijermans was recently executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Helix Energy Solutions Group.
He has also held several senior positions at energy companies including Enterprise Products Partners, El Paso Corporation and Royal Dutch Shell.
Mr Heijermans said: “These are exciting times; investments in offshore oil and gas production and wind-energy generation continue to increase in many regions of the world, creating a huge demand for proven experience and expertise that DeepOcean Group possesses across all of its divisions.
“My goal is to capitalise on the company’s strengths in subsea engineering and realise the synergies between the divisions.”
He added: “Well-coordinated inspection, maintenance and repair services along with subsea trenching and installation capabilities will together capture more business opportunities for the group than when run separately.
“In addition, the company has a fairly homogenous customer base, including customers such as Statoil, BP and Petrobras.”
