DOING business in Texas will be the focus of a free seminar for oil and gas service firms in Aberdeen on Monday.
The evening event is being hosted by law firm Maclay Murray and Spens (MMS) in the Marcliffe Hotel.
It will feature a panel of experts, including Douglas Paisley and John Stephenson of Texas law firm Jackson Walker, plus tax and employment-law partners from MMS.
Uisdean Vass, head of the oil and gas team at MMS, who will be chairman of the event, said: “The Scottish oil and gas service sector continues to internationalise.
“Houston is really the centre of the industry and, along with cities such as Dallas, probably boasts the greatest concentration of oil companies and oil service companies in the world.
“Texas is where the clients are and where so many of the critical contractual decisions are taken. Historically, Texas is the heartland of onshore oil production and significant conventional onshore production continues.
“Additionally, Texas is becoming a major producer of unconventional hydrocarbons such as shale gas.
“But of even greater interest to Scottish oil service companies is the Gulf of Mexico offshore oil province, with its increasing production profile and deepwater challenges.
“The Gulf is one of the most attractive markets in the world for cutting-edge Scottish subsea technology.”
