Flexible-pipe specialist flexlife has landed a subsea-engineering support contract with Apache North Sea worth £2.4million over three years, with the option to extend to five.
It comes after the company was awarded long-term integrity-management contracts with Maersk and CNR earlier this year, again for three years with options to extend to five.
Flexlife will be responsible for all the subsea engineering and operational pipeline support on Apache’s North Sea assets after competing against 16 companies during the tendering process.
Stuart Mitchell, director of Aberdeen-based flexlife, said: “Securing this major contract is very significant for us and the development of the subsea-engineering side of our business. Apache North Sea is a very important client to us and we are looking forward to supporting it in ongoing operational work as well as implement- ing its development plans over the next five years. We have a great, highly experienced team of subsea engineers in-house and will be bringing additional skilled personnel to build on this team.”
Flexlife celebrated its second anniversary recently having recorded turnover of £3million for 2008-09 and predicting growth of about 70% in 2009-10, primarily through work in the North Sea and Brazil.
The firm has 10 staff, with plans to take on a further eight this year. It is recruiting a team of 11, mainly contractors, for the Apache work.
Flexlife has been shortlisted in the National Business Awards for Scotland 2009 in the business innovation and SME categories.
Winners will be announced in Glasgow tomorrow night.
