A small Aberdeen company has won a deal to improve safety for African oil workers.
Specialist information systems company Collabro has gone into partnership with oil and gas service company West Atlantic Energy Nigeria to supply software and support services to the Nigerian government, as part of a safety initiative for the country’s offshore workers.
The multimillion-pound contract will initially run for five years and will see Collabro provide Vantage POB software and associated support services.
Vantage POB is a personnel-on-board and personnel logistics system initially developed for the oil and gas industry in the North Sea to efficiently monitor and control the movements of workers to and from offshore facilities.
Vantage POB product manager at Collabro Kevin Walker said: “For years, Vantage POB has provided a stable and scalable platform for personnel logistics in the North Sea.
“The excellence of functionality – designed by logistics professionals – combined with the high-quality service delivered by the Collabro team has led to complete coverage for all UK and Dutch offshore oil and gas operators.
“We have delivered the software as far afield as Trinidad, Indonesia and Australia.
“Collabro is proud to provide the software as a country-wide service that will ensure that best practice developed by the UK offshore oil and gas industry will benefit workers and operators active in other regions.”
The firm employs 16 staff at its headquarters at Bridge of Don and also has offices in Australia and Malaysia.
