Oil and gas firm Neptune Energy has appointed a new UK managing director, based in Aberdeen.
Alexandra Thomas has joined Neptune from Tullow Oil, where she was head of exploration, development and commercial for Ghana.
Ms Thomas will take over from Pierre Girard, who held the UK managing director role on an interim basis. Mr Girard will take up the new post of commercial and joint ventures director.
Neptune’s previous full-time UK boss was Pete Jones, who was promoted to vice-president of operations for Europe in October 2019.
Ms Thomas’ career in oil and gas spans 18 years and includes spells with Shell and Equinor.
The Edinburgh University graduate joined Tullow as a result of its acquisition of Dutch North Sea assets from Vattenfall in 2011.
She has held a number of senior leadership roles in the UK, Netherlands and Norway.
Neptune chief executive Jim House thanked Mr Girard for his stewardship and said Ms Thomas had a good understanding of the UK oil industry and would provide “exceptional leadership”.
Mr House added that Ms Thomas was joining Neptune at an “exciting time”.
Backed by China Investment Corporation, The Carlyle Group, and CVC Capital Partners, Neptune is developing the Seagull field as a tie-back to BP’s Etap platform in the central North Sea.
Founded in 2015, the firm is also participating in exploration and appraisal work at the Isabella and Glengorm fields and has identified further development opportunities at its operated-Cygnus field in the southern North Sea.
