DEVELOPERS, architects and planners are among those meeting today to consider the design of the masterplan for Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future’s flagship project.
Energetica is a 30-mile development corridor that stretches from Aberdeen Airport and the Bridge of Don to Peterhead.
The aim is to create a high-energy, low-carbon lifestyle destination that will offer residential, leisure, business and education facilities that will attract people and businesses from around the world.
ACSEF chairman Tom Smith said: “The aspirations for Energetica are high and, as such, we have taken a unique approach to ensuring that the infrastructure, design and delivery is world-class, innovative but also highly sustainable right from the outset.
“This first stakeholder meeting will seek to explore ideas from master planners, architects and developers with strong credentials in master planning and delivering leading-edge projects using sustainable materials, whilst delivering high levels of energy efficiency and aesthetics.”
The meeting will hear from Eva Dalman, the architect and project manager for the urban regeneration project at Western Harbour in Malmo, Sweden.
A detailed overview of Energetica and an update on the new local development plans will be followed by a session on the potential uses of renewably-generated hydrogen for use in transport, business and domestic applications.
Mr Smith added: “The Energetica proposition embodies our ambition of becoming a global energy hub. It offers a tremendous opportunity for powerful growth, further diversification and continued prosperity within the region, building on the solid knowledge, technology and trading base developed around oil and gas.”
Among developers attending are representatives from the Trump Organisation.
Donald Trump, who is planning a £1billion golf resort at Menie Estate, said: “Energetica represents the future of the region, and we share the vision. This forum is a tremendous opportunity to exchange knowledge and shape our plans for this corridor becoming a world-leading destination and inspirational place to live and work.”
