Westwood Global Energy reports that as of 2 April there was one exploration well that was in the process of completing, with no active E&A drilling.
West of Shetland
After the completion of Hurricane’s Warwick West 204/30b-4 appraisal well on 13 December there is no current drilling in the West of Shetland.
Northern North Sea
Apache’s 9/18e-42 Solar exploration well completed on 26 February after a re-spud and sidetrack. The well was successful in making an oil discovery in the target Eocene sand injectites and is expected to be developed as a tieback to the Beryl platform.
Central North Sea
Total’s 30/12d-11 Isabella exploration well was announced on 17 March as having made an HPHT gas condensate and light oil discovery in three formations within the Upper Jurassic and Triassic, the latter being the primary objective of the well. P&A operations were ongoing at the time of writing and the rig, Noble Sam Hartley, is expected to move off location around 3 April. The rig was expected to move to drill the operator’s 12/30 Finzean exploration well in the Moray Firth, however instead it is understood the rig will return to port and the well will be drilled later in the year.
Southern North Sea
After the completion of Eni’s 53/14a-2 Aspen exploration well on 11 December there is no current drilling in the Southern North Sea. A result from this well has not yet been announced.
