Two companies hoping to promote careers in oil and gas to university students worked together to provide a real taste of life on a North Sea drilling platform.
UK North Sea operator Apache worked with Gradcracker, a careers website for engineering and technology students, to organise a trip to the Forties Delta platform.
Gradcracker filmed footage of the trip to showcase on their online TV channel so students across the UK could discover what it is like to work as an offshore engineer.
It also interviewed, and filmed, three Apache graduates who told Gradcracker’s Rachel Mutters about life in Aberdeen, their journey from university to the sector and what their roles involve.
Rachel said: “This is a real opportunity to show our students the exciting opportunities available to them in oil and gas.
“When talking to our students at careers fairs, especially in England, this industry does not seem to be very much on their radar as a career option.”
