Logistics firm Asco has doubled its market share in Norway since 2008 and says there is more to come.
The firm has been operating in Norway since 1995 when it set up its first quayside logistics base at Tananger, near Stavanger.
It now has more than 120 people working in the country across a network of specialist oil and gas logistics bases all the way along the Norwegian coastline from Farsund in the south, to Kirkenes in the north.
“Over the coming years we see tremendous growth in Norway, particularly in the Barents Sea, but also in the established North Sea and Norwegian Sea markets too,” said Derek Smith, Asco chief executive, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“It is reported that exploration acreage awards off Norway in 2011 reached the highest level since 1965 and licensing is expected to reach a new high this year, while capital spending is also set to increase.
“Asco is already well placed to support this work with our network of seven bases right along the Norwegian coast and we have plans to reinvest in and further strengthen our existing infrastructure in line with future market growth.”
From its Norwegian bases, Asco supports work in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea.
It also recently opened a freight management office in Oslo, supporting its international freight management division.
Recent contract awards for Asco in Norway include a logistics project for Statoil’s Gudrun development in the Norwegian North Sea.
