Personal protective equipment (PPE) specialist Red Wing is an industry leader in North Sea offshore PPE for a reason – it values people.
With this in mind, the Minnesota-founded company is offering a “back to work” pack to give employees in the north-east of Scotland confidence that they are protected against coronavirus as they return to work.
Red Wing has been careful to source its PPE and avoid the slew of “suspect” masks and gloves that have permeated the marketplace since the outbreak of Covid-19, while still offering their true and trusted line of safety footwear, hand protection, eye protection and workwear.
Red Wing Europe has been providing “Total Body Protection” to the North Sea sector since 2014, and boasts a 110-country network of partners and Red Wing distribution hubs in Aberdeen, Scotland, Stavanger, Norway, and Houston, United States.
Red Wing Europe also manufactures its own line of footwear, workwear and accessories for the energy sector.
Jon Bodicoat, north-east-based managing director for Red Wing Europe, said: “We’ve really done our due diligence on every possible source.
“We’ve kept our integrity and as a company we’d rather offer nothing than provide something substandard – that’s something we stand by.”
The “back to work” kit offered by Red Wing is designed to give people peace of mind as they return to their workplaces and mix with co-workers again.
It comes in a portable drawstring bag with three washable face masks, 10 pairs of disposable gloves, one bottle of hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes to clean workspace surfaces.
Bodicoat said: “Obviously there’s a lot of apprehension around going back to work. We wanted to put a simple kit together that gives people the basics and helps them stay safe at work. We also know our customers and businesses have a huge amount to think about in terms of planning and getting people back to work. These kits can help take some of the pain and worry away, while offering them at a price that is fair.”
Like the majority of North Sea-focused companies facing
Covid-19, Red Wing has had to make a lot of changes and be nimble to its customers’ new requirements.
While still providing its traditional safety products and services, it has also had to add other safety items in the fight against coronavirus. It currently has the capacity to supply orders of the “back to work” pack of around 5,000 units.
Bodicoat said: “One of the things we’ve done is offer our essential PPE across our existing customer base, but we have also avoided the temptation of price gouging with these new packs.
“In order to provide these packs, we’ve gone out to new suppliers while ensuring all the certifications are in place – every provider has been vetted and has gone through our stringent process to meet the standard. For us, it’s all about supporting the energy industry while getting the right products that meet the needs of what our customers want.
“People are understandably anxious about returning to work right now. All we can do is offer PPE that provides the utmost safety and potentially offers some peace of mind.”
