Aberdeen-based Subsea Technologies said yesterday it had been awarded UK patents for two of its products.
The subsea pressure-equipment firm added it expected the awards to increase demand for its Xtreme Release (XR) connectors and Stackable Lightweight Intervention Connectors (Slic).
The company, which employs 15 people, said it had already sold two XRs, while the first Slic would be shipped to an operator in west Africa in the coming weeks.
Managing director Drummond Lawson said: “We sold two systems while awaiting our patents, which demonstrates the demand in the market for them.
“The patent award for the XR and Slic connectors will enable us to move ahead with a broad range of potential applications across the subsea riser and flowline connector market.”
