New entrants to the energy industry will debate how the challenges and expectations of the oil and gas and renewable energy industries are being met as part of an introductory course to the energy industry.
The University of Aberdeen’s annual Energy Industries Overview, covering oil and gas and renewable energy, will see a number of experts from major operating and service companies, academia and trade associations gathering to share their knowledge.
The three-day training course, co-sponsored by Oil&Gas UK and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG), looks at everything from how the industries function, from policy and taxation to regulation and technology.
Paul Dymond, operations director at Oil and Gas UK, chairs the oil and gas session which will include a debate on energy policy and industry practices.
Mr Dymond said: “The theme of this year’s debate is extremely topical. It will compare and contrast how the challenges and expectations of the oil and gas and renewable energy industries are being met.”
Iain Todd, of AREG, chairs the Energy Industries Overview renewable energy sessions. He said: “As the renewable energy industry continues to grow and evolve, in terms of both political and economic importance, it is generating significant career and business opportunities.”
Among companies that participate in the event are Shell UK Limited and Total E&P UK, Petrofac and Active Sustainable Energy Systems while representatives from Scottish Government and Scottish Renewables will also speak.
