Shell has secured Stena Drilling’s latest super-drillship for a five-year worldwide drilling contract.
The new-build, 228m, ice-class 1A1 drillship, Stena IceMAX, pictured left, is the world’s first dynamically-positioned, dual-mast, ice-class drillship designed to be at home working in Arctic conditions.
The ship is due for delivery from South Korea about now and its first assignment is apparently offshore Guyane.
IceMAX is the fourth vessel in the Stena DrillMAX fleet. The previous three drillships, Stena DrillMAX, Stena Carron, and Stena Forth are currently in worldwide operation.
